The Ministry of National Defense announced that it held a plenary session of the Defense Policy Advisory Committee on the morning of December 19 at the Convention Center of the War Memorial of Korea in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The Policy Advisory Committee is a consultative body established to gather diverse expert opinions on the formulation and implementation of defense policies.
This plenary session was attended by over 100 advisory members, who were appointed across 12 subcommittees, including policy planning, international policy, defense policy, budget planning, legal affairs, intelligent informatization, and military capability.
Minister of National Defense Ahn Kyubaek cited a phrase from the Donguibogam, "Tongjeukbutong Butongjeuktong (通則不痛 不通則痛·If there is communication, there is no pain; if there is no communication, there is pain)," emphasizing, "For our military to fulfill its constitutional mission of national security and territorial defense, it is essential to maintain ongoing communication with the Policy Advisory Committee, which is composed of experts from various fields."
Minister Ahn further stated, "The Ministry of National Defense is a massive organization responsible for the survival of the nation and its people, managing a workforce of nearly 500,000 and a budget exceeding 60 trillion won. I ask the Policy Advisory Committee to work closely with the Ministry, actively providing advice to enhance public 'trust' in defense policy and to help our military build the 'strong power' needed to protect the country and its people."
