Selected as Outstanding Local Government in "Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon" Execution
Received Excellence Award in "Local Economic Revitalization City and County Evaluation"
Seongju County has been recognized externally for its achievements in implementing policies aimed at revitalizing the local economy, as it was selected as an outstanding local government in the "Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon" execution, organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and also received the Excellence Award in the "Local Economic Revitalization City and County Evaluation" conducted by North Gyeongsang Province.
As an incentive for being chosen as an outstanding local government in the "Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon" execution, Seongju County secured a special grant tax of 100 million won, which will provide momentum for future local projects. In addition, by winning the Excellence Award in the "Local Economic Revitalization City and County Evaluation," the county received a governor's commendation and a prize of 3 million won.
To implement the "Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon" program, a dedicated task force was formed to establish a systematic payment system. Through proactive administration, including visiting and distributing coupons to vulnerable groups such as nursing facilities, the county achieved a payment rate of 98.5% (first round: 99.3%, second round: 97.7%).
The county also greatly expanded the number of eligible merchants, such as Hanaro Mart in each township, thereby enhancing convenience for residents.
As part of its policies to revitalize the local economy, Seongju County supported local small business owners by providing special guarantee funds (300 million won), offering special discounts on Seongju Love Gift Certificates (22.2 billion won), subsidizing credit card fees for small businesses (300 million won), supporting childbirth encouragement programs for small business owners (48 million won), implementing the Saebaram Change-Up Project (40 million won), and designating and supporting 32 good price businesses.
Additionally, the county continuously promoted the revitalization of traditional markets by encouraging shopping at traditional markets, organizing benchmarking visits to advanced sites, hosting the Seongju Market Starlight Night Market event, and pursuing specialized market development projects, including the First Step Foundation Project.
A Seongju County official stated, "Due to the continued rise in prices, the local economy has been shrinking, causing significant difficulties for small business owners. Based on this year's achievements, we will continue to implement excellent policies to invigorate our local economy and strive for further revitalization."
