This award was given in recognition of Gapyeong County’s exemplary case of building a local vitality network based on win-win consumption, with participation from residents, public institutions, central government ministries, and local governments. The initiative was highly praised for revitalizing the stagnant local economy.
Gapyeong County has continuously promoted sisterhood partnerships with central government ministries and public institutions, including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (Office for Local Government Innovation). Through these efforts, the county established a stay-and-participate win-win consumption model by encouraging visits from public institution employees, connecting with local traditional markets, operating tourism and cultural programs, and linking social contribution activities.
In particular, the evaluation panel highly regarded Gapyeong County’s achievements in generating tangible results for local businesses and residents by expanding cooperation, starting with its partnership with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and extending to organizations such as the Seoul Regional Headquarters of the Small Enterprise and Market Service and the Food Safety Information Service.
A Gapyeong County official stated, "This Grand Prize is the result of collaboration not only among Gapyeong County, but also with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the central government, various public institutions, and the active participation of our residents. We will continue to expand sustainable local economic models based on cooperation and mutual growth to bring about changes that our residents can truly feel."
