According to the city on December 19, "Dongsimdongdeok (同心同德)" means "achieving the same goal with one heart," encapsulating the administrative philosophy of placing citizens at the center of municipal affairs, thinking and moving forward together.
Throughout 2025, the city achieved significant results in key pledges and major pending issues of the eighth popularly elected administration.
This year, Iksan saw tangible outcomes in major projects that had been in preparation for a long time, including: securing the first Costco in the Honam region, completing Korea's first Green Bio Venture Campus, and being selected for the preliminary feasibility study for the restoration of the Wanggung natural environment.
Additionally, the city secured over 1 trillion won in national funding for three consecutive years and achieved a net inflow of young people due to youth-targeted policy successes. These milestones have become important turning points for enhancing Iksan's urban competitiveness and sustainability.
The city announced its intention to embed the direction for next year's municipal administration under the theme of "Dongsimdongdeok," making it the guiding principle for governance with citizens. The city plans to pursue balanced development across all sectors, including the economy, culture and tourism, welfare, and the environment, focusing on next year's key priority projects.
Iksan will accelerate the construction of urban infrastructure to invigorate the local economy and further solidify a virtuous cycle of local consumption by providing citizen-tailored benefits through "Dairoom," the city's core economic platform.
Furthermore, by successfully hosting major events such as the Iksan Citizen Harmony Festival, the city aims to strengthen its content competitiveness and expedite the era of ten million tourists by expanding historical, cultural, and tourism infrastructure utilizing its historical resources.
In addition, Iksan plans to bolster its welfare foundation by building specialized hospitals such as Hamsoa Hospital and to enhance its competitiveness as a child-friendly city by operating a seamless 24/7 care system throughout the year.
A city official stated, "This year's achievements marked an important turning point, as citizen-centered, customized policies yielded tangible results. Next year, with the spirit of Dongsimdongdeok (同心同德), we will steadily implement future strategic projects to complete the great city of Iksan."
