Budget Increases by 15.7 Billion Won from Last Year
Maintaining Over 500 Billion Won for Five Consecutive Years
On December 19, Imsil County in North Jeolla Province finalized next year's main budget at 522.9 billion won, following approval by the county council.
According to the county, the newly approved budget for next year represents an increase of 15.7 billion won (3.11%) compared to this year's main budget of 507.2 billion won. With this, the county has continued its streak of maintaining a budget exceeding 500 billion won for five consecutive years based on the main budget.
By sector, the allocations are as follows: social welfare at 106.3 billion won (20.33%), agriculture, forestry, maritime, and fisheries at 93.4 billion won (17.85%), land and regional development at 65.6 billion won (12.54%), environment at 58.1 billion won (11.11%), and culture and tourism at 38.3 billion won (7.33%). The budget has been distributed evenly across all areas, including safety, education, health, transportation, logistics, and industry.
Major investment projects include 4.6 billion won for the Cheese Island development project to realize "Imsil as a top-tier tourist destination attracting ten million visitors," 3.5 billion won for a planned regional tourism development project, 2.2 billion won for the World Famous Dog Theme Land project, 1.3 billion won for the Okjeong Lake Eco-Trail Circulation System project, and 800 million won for a public-private win-win investment agreement project.
Notable allocations have also been made to strengthen agricultural competitiveness, including 1.6 billion won for well development, 1.5 billion won for irrigation facility maintenance, 1.4 billion won for organic fertilizer support, 700 million won for the creation of temporary housing for returning and new farmers, 500 million won for a young farmers’ settlement support project, and 500 million won for an agricultural machinery rental project.
Other budget allocations include 11.4 billion won for the Osu District Urban Regeneration Activation Project, 3.5 billion won for the LPG pipeline network construction in Osu-myeon, 3 billion won for the construction of the Gwancheon-myeon Happiness Nuri Center, 2.5 billion won for the Gangjin District Rural Living Water Development Project, 2.3 billion won for the Unam-myeon Ssangam District Apdeul Development Project, and 2 billion won for the construction of a Residential Vitality Center.
Additionally, 400 million won has been allocated for the design cost of the KTX stop at Imsil Station to improve transportation infrastructure, revitalize the local economy, and promote balanced national development.
Furthermore, to build a warm and inclusive community and provide tailored welfare, the county has allocated funds for projects such as support for hairdressing and bathing expenses for seniors, senior job support programs, and multicultural family visits to their home countries. Budgets have also been carefully set aside for vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities, the elderly, and children.
County Governor Sim Min stated, "Despite challenging financial conditions, we have worked hard to include projects that are truly needed by our residents. I will do my utmost until the very end to ensure the prompt and efficient execution of the allocated budget and successfully conclude the 8th term of the Imsil County administration."
