Gwangju Seochang Silver Grass Festival Draws 100,000 Visitors... Economic Impact Reaches 1.85 Billion Won Seogu District attracted a total of approximately 102,000 visitors to the "10th Gwangju Seochang Silver Grass Festival" held along the Yeongsan River in October, generating an economic effect of about 1.85 billion won. According to Seogu District on December 19, these figures were calculated using a festival evaluation service, guidelines from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Gwangju City Big Data Integrated Platform. During the festival period (October 16-19), the number of visitors was estimated at 102,336, with an average expenditure per person of 18,112 won.

A survey of visitor characteristics found that 46.4% of attendees visited as families, and the average length of stay was three hours. This indicates that the Gwangju Seochang Silver Grass Festival has established itself not just as a viewing event, but as an immersive ecological festival where visitors can relax and enjoy their time.

Under the theme "A Journey to Autumn Delivered by Silver Grass," the festival received positive responses for its content that combined nature and emotion. Programs such as "Soundscape," where visitors could experience the sounds of nature through headphones, the "LP Silver Grass Lounge," which blended LP music with silver grass scenery, and the citizen-participation "Spacing Out Contest," were especially popular for providing relaxation and empathy.

In a satisfaction survey, the festival received high ratings in key areas such as "variety of event content" (5.53 points), "fun" (5.52 points), and "creation of rest areas" (5.51 points).

To revitalize the local economy, Seogu District issued 20 million won worth of "healing coupons" that could be used at 115 affiliated stores in connection with the festival. The district also promoted eco-friendly festival operations by encouraging the use of public transportation and running free shuttle buses.

Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seogu District, stated, "The Seochang Silver Grass Festival is Seogu's signature ecological festival, where nature and citizens come together," adding, "We will continue to develop it into a high-quality festival with sustainability and excellence."

Meanwhile, starting next year, Seogu District plans to extend the festival period and increase the proportion of ecology-focused content, aiming to further develop the festival into an ecological event that offers citizens a tranquil rest and opportunities to experience nature.
