According to the county on December 19, this event aims to promote the taste and quality of Shine Muscat grapes grown and produced in the highlands of Muju to consumers in Seoul and the metropolitan area, thereby boosting consumption and expanding distribution. The goal is to sell 20,000 boxes (1.5 kg each, totaling 30 tons).

The county expects this event to serve as a support for stabilizing the income of local farmers who are struggling with plummeting prices due to oversupply.

On this day, Muju County Mayor Hwang Inhong, Lee Donggeun, CEO of Nonghyup Distribution, Choi Youngseop, head of the Yangjae branch, as well as about 20 officials from Muju County and Nonghyup Distribution, gathered at the site to promote the excellence of Muju Firefly Shine Muscat.

Mayor Hwang Inhong stated, "I am very pleased that we can present the unique taste of Muju, which no one else can imitate, to the citizens of Seoul," adding, "I hope this event will help raise awareness of Muju, the home of fireflies, and serve as a stepping stone to expand the market connecting Firefly Shine Muscat with consumers."

He also expressed his intention to further strengthen the ongoing quality management and distribution infrastructure for Muju Firefly Shine Muscat.

Meanwhile, this year, the county purchased 250 tons from 52 farms as part of the Muju agricultural product price stabilization fund project, and exported 50 tons to Taiwan for the first time. Taiwan is known for its strict quality control, including residual pesticide checks, and Muju Firefly Shine Muscat has received a positive response there, raising expectations for expanding the distribution network.

Next year, the county plans to expand its distribution network to the United States by collaborating with Nonghyup and the integrated marketing organization (cooperative), providing support for farm consulting such as quarantine requirements to enhance the export competitiveness of Firefly Shine Muscat. Last year, more than 100 tons were exported to Vietnam, Hong Kong, and other countries.
