Paju City Selected as Outstanding Local Government for 'Support for Small Business Owners and Commercial Area Revitalization'

Paju City in Gyeonggi Province received a plaque of appreciation at the event recognizing outstanding local governments for 'Support for Small Business Owners and Commercial Area Revitalization,' held on the 17th at the Gyeonggi-do Market and Commercial Area Promotion Agency headquarters.

The plaque of appreciation from the Gyeonggi-do Market and Commercial Area Promotion Agency is awarded to local governments that have achieved outstanding results in revitalizing local commercial areas and strengthening the competitiveness of small business owners throughout 2025. Paju City was selected as one of five outstanding local governments, alongside Suwon, Yongin, Hwaseong, and Namyangju.

Paju City has consistently participated in various commercial area revitalization projects in cooperation with the Gyeonggi-do Market and Commercial Area Promotion Agency, including the Gyeonggi-do Brand Street Development Project, neighborhood commercial area revitalization, manager support, programs to strengthen the self-sufficiency of small business owners, and the Chuseok Small Business Livelihood Recovery Project. Through these efforts, the city has worked to restore the local economy and boost consumption.

Additionally, on its own initiative, the city has supported small business owners by providing working capital, improving business environments, and operating the 'Value Together Festa.' Paju City has also continuously implemented customized policies reflecting local characteristics, such as local currency (Paju Pay) cashback events and easing the designation criteria for neighborhood-type shopping districts.

Lee Igoo, Head of the Department of Livelihood Economy, stated, "This plaque of appreciation is external recognition of the achievements of Paju City's commercial area revitalization policies. We will continue to provide active support to create a stable business environment for small business owners and a vibrant local commercial area."
