According to Jeonju University on the 19th, the event was organized by the Jeonbuk Venture Center Defense Industry Council and sponsored by the Agency for Defense Development and Jeonbuk Technopark. More than 200 participants attended, including officials from the Ministry of National Defense and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, as well as academic and industry experts.
In particular, high-ranking officials such as Dr. Chamnam, Director of Thailand's Defense Technology Institute (DTI), attended the seminar, showing keen interest in Jeonbuk's defense industry technology and suggesting possibilities for international cooperation.
The seminar focused on ways to integrate advanced defense science and technology-such as artificial intelligence (AI), drone and robot convergence technology, and immersive simulation, which are core elements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution-into the regional industry.
Presenters shared specific technological cases, including simulation technology that replicates battlefield environments and the militarization of drones, emphasizing the need to build a "Jeonbuk-specialized defense industry ecosystem."
Kwon Sutae, Vice President of Jeonju University, stated, "The defense industry is not only a means of national security but also a key industry driving the national economy. I hope this seminar will further solidify the organic cooperation among industry, academia, research, and government, and serve as an important milestone for local defense companies to expand beyond the domestic market into the global arena."
Meanwhile, Jeonju University is focusing on nurturing professionals in the defense industry and strengthening R&D capabilities through its on-campus Defense Industry Research Institute. The university also plans to continue providing multifaceted support in cooperation with Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province to foster the regional defense industry as a strategic sector.
