The installation of the 'Dunggok Intersection BRT Central Station,' connecting North Daejeon and South Sejong, has been completed.
With the establishment of the 'Dunggok Intersection BRT Central Station,' transportation convenience for residents and research institutions within the International Science Business Belt is expected to improve significantly.
This project involved constructing two BRT bus stations (one for each direction) in the center of Gujeuk-Sejong-ro (a six-lane road connecting Daejeon and Sejong). The total project cost was 12 billion won, with 10 billion won secured from LH (Korea Land & Housing Corporation), which is carrying out the Dunggok and Sindong District development projects, and an additional 1 billion won in municipal funding.
Although not included in the original project plan, Daejeon City reflected citizens' requests by adding convenience and safety facilities along with the BRT central station to enhance the comfort of passengers using the long-distance route between North Daejeon and South Sejong.
By identifying potential issues in advance and establishing traffic safety analyses and improvement measures, the city eliminated accident risk factors (such as earth and stone located between the Dunggok Tunnels) related to the installation of the BRT central station. This proactive approach has enabled citizens to use road transportation services more safely.
Park Jehwa, Director of Daejeon City Construction Management Headquarters, stated, "The installation of this BRT central station is expected to not only revitalize the International Science Business Belt (Dunggok and Sindong Districts) but also serve as a catalyst for the development of northern Daejeon by improving public transportation services between Daejeon and Sejong, greatly enhancing transportation convenience for citizens."
