Youngkyun Jung, Chairman of Heerim Architects & Planners, a renowned global architectural design and construction management (CM) firm, has been named one of the '50 Innovative Alumni of Seoul National University College of Engineering Who Moved Korea.'

According to Seoul National University on December 19, the College of Engineering announced its final list of 50 distinguished alumni who have driven national development through technological innovation, social impact, and the creation of future value, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the college's relocation to the Gwanak Campus. Through a rigorous verification process and intense debate, the selection committee chose a total of 52 'innovation leaders' (including co-founders): 43 from industry, 6 from research, and 3 from academia.


Chairman Jung, a graduate of the Department of Architecture at Seoul National University, has established Heerim as a world-class architectural firm beyond Korea, based on his innovative management philosophy. The selection committee highlighted that Jung's leadership has had a positive impact not only on the growth of the company but also on the broader Korean economy. In particular, Jung was highly recognized for his contributions to the globalization of 'K-Architecture,' including job creation through active overseas expansion, establishing a bridgehead for related domestic industries to enter global markets, and promoting the cultural value of Korean architectural technology.


Under Chairman Jung's leadership, Heerim has built a history of continuous challenges since its founding in 1970. After becoming the first in the industry to independently enter overseas markets in 2001, Heerim has solidified its presence in the global market over the past 25 years. Today, Heerim stands alongside the world's top architectural firms, ranking sixth in the global architecture rankings and boasting a unique status in the industry.


A Heerim representative stated, "This selection is the result of Chairman Youngkyun Jung's efforts in innovative architecture and national interest creation being recognized by a credible institution," adding, "We will continue to fulfill our role as a global leader, presenting the future potential of Korean architecture."
