The Clean Country Cheongju Factory, located in Cheongju City, Chungbuk, has continuously invested in facility upgrades and process improvements to reduce air pollutants since signing a voluntary fine dust reduction agreement with Cheongju City in 2018. Each year, Cheongju City selects outstanding workplaces based on the implementation of the agreement and the results achieved in reducing emissions.

Through major facility improvements, Clean Country achieved approximately a 45% reduction in pollutant emissions compared to the average emissions from the two years prior to the agreement (2016-2017). Key reduction activities included: ▲ shutting down the sludge incinerator and coal-fired boilers and switching fuels ▲ improving combustion efficiency by introducing high-efficiency incineration facilities ▲ reducing emissions by replacing LNG boilers and installing low-NOx burners ▲ and enhancing treatment efficiency by upgrading the semi-dry reactor (SDR) used for solid fuel facilities.

In addition, Clean Country is expanding collaborative initiatives and continuing efforts to reduce fine dust and greenhouse gas emissions at its workplace to contribute to improving the local environment. In July, the company signed the "Making Cheongju Clean and Fresh" agreement with Cheongju City, joining the city's goal of achieving "2050 carbon neutrality and building a sustainable eco-friendly city."

A Clean Country representative stated, "We have consistently pursued facility upgrades and process innovation to improve local air quality," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our foundation for eco-friendly management and carry out ongoing reduction activities."
