Gyeonggi Province Distributes 'Smoke Masks' to 19 Facilities Including Commissioned Centers

Gyeonggi Province recently distributed 800 fire evacuation smoke masks to a total of 19 locations, including the Gyeonggi Child Temporary Shelter.

Since enacting the "Gyeonggi Province Ordinance on the Placement and Support of Fire Evacuation Smoke Masks" in 2020, the provincial government has been surveying the status of smoke mask placement at public institutions, welfare facilities, and multi-use facilities, and has regularly recommended their placement.

This measure is based on on-site inspections conducted at 31 facilities for vulnerable groups-such as children, the elderly, and people with disabilities-that are managed or commissioned by Gyeonggi Province. Support was provided according to the demand at each facility, within the scope of the ordinance.

This support is expected to significantly enhance the initial fire response capabilities and evacuation safety at facilities used by vulnerable groups.

Lee Jongdon, Director of Safety Management at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "This measure has raised the level of safety management at facilities directly managed or commissioned by the province," adding, "We will continue to implement proactive and effective safety measures to protect vulnerable groups."
