The Korea Art Dealers Association decided to extend the joint hosting contract for Kiaf and Frieze Seoul by five years at a temporary general meeting held at the Westin Josun Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, on December 18. According to the association, all members except one who abstained voted in favor of the renewal.
Frieze, regarded as one of the world's two major art fair franchises alongside Art Basel, has been jointly hosting events in Seoul with Kiaf under a five-year contract since 2022. The original agreement was set to end with the 2026 event, but with this renewal, the partnership is now expected to continue through 2031.
Within the association, the meaningful achievements of Korean art and domestic galleries during the four years of co-hosting Kiaf and Frieze Seoul were highly valued.
An association official stated, "Frieze has already expressed its intention to renew the contract," adding, "The detailed terms of the agreement will be decided through further discussions in the future."
