AI-generated Image to Promote ChatGPT’s New Feature
Shirtless Concept and Date Error Spark Mockery and Mixed Reactions
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI and developer of ChatGPT, has drawn attention by releasing a calendar image created with ChatGPT's image generation tool. However, reactions have been mixed, as the calendar features Altman depicted as a shirtless firefighter model, and even contains a date error.
On December 17 (local time), Altman posted the image on his X account (formerly Twitter). The photo shows a December calendar with Altman dressed as a firefighter, displaying a muscular upper body, set against a backdrop decorated for Christmas.
This is not a real photograph but an AI-generated composite image made using ChatGPT's image generation feature. It is reported that Altman posted the image to showcase the latest function that allows users to create customized images directly within ChatGPT.
The post immediately garnered widespread attention, exceeding 3.6 million views within a single day. However, responses were divided. Some users found it amusing that the CEO had cast himself as a muscular calendar model, while others criticized the quality of the image.
The most frequently cited issue was the calendar's date display. While December 1 of this year falls on a Monday, the calendar in the image shows it as a Thursday. One user commented, "You brag about fake abs, but can't even make a proper calendar."
Other reactions included comments such as, "It's not too late-delete it," and "I don't want my electricity bill to go up because of images like this."
Some users even parodied the post by creating images that covered Altman's exposed upper body with a T-shirt or a firefighter's jacket, further satirizing the original post.
