The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee has issued an official apology after live ammunition was taken out of the armory at the shooting range in Jincheon National Training Center, North Chungcheong Province.
On December 18, the committee stated, "During the additional investigation, we confirmed that some of the live ammunition brought into the armory in February was taken out without following proper procedures."
The committee added, "We have removed the shooting range manager and those responsible for the comprehensive inspection and reporting from their positions."
Previously, in October, the committee announced that a full inspection and on-site check of the armory had found no irregularities. The committee admitted, "We acknowledge that there were limitations in the comprehensive inspection at the time, which prevented us from detecting the removal of the ammunition."
Chairman Yoo Seungmin said, "As the head of the organization, I regret not being able to fully verify the details of the incident that occurred in the past." He continued, "We will establish a system to prevent recurrence of such incidents through strict action against those involved and improvements to the management system."
As a follow-up to the 2025 National Assembly audit, the committee conducted a special audit of the Korea Shooting Federation from October 14 to November 20. Administrative actions will also be considered based on the results.
