The 'Jindo Gopchang Gim Popup Store' held in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, successfully concluded after attracting approximately 6,000 visitors over three days.


According to Jindo County on December 18, the event was part of a project to strengthen brand competitiveness following the designation of a "Gim Industry Promotion Zone." It was designed to raise awareness of Jindo Gim and boost the income of local fishers.


In particular, the event targeted young consumers and foreigners who have shown great interest in Korean gim amid the "K-Gim" trend, by creating a space focused on hands-on and participatory content. Unlike traditional exhibition-based promotions, the event differentiated itself by allowing visitors to directly experience and enjoy the products.


Despite sub-zero temperatures, the popup store was crowded every day, with an average of about 2,000 people visiting daily. Visitors showed keen interest in the texture and flavor of Jindo Gopchang Gim, responding enthusiastically.


Under the themes of "Teto Gim" and "Egen Bap," the event featured unique participation programs such as "lifting a gim barbell" and a cycling experience. There was also a hands-on area where visitors could directly compare the thickness and texture of Gopchang Gim with regular gim, which was met with positive feedback.


According to an on-site satisfaction survey, 90% of respondents said they learned that Jindo is the main production area of Gopchang Gim, and 85% rated the taste of Jindo Gopchang Gim as excellent, demonstrating the event's strong promotional impact.


Other positive responses included comments such as "I learned something new about Jindo," "I could clearly feel the difference between Gopchang Gim and regular gim," and "The space made it easy to understand Gopchang Gim."


Jindo County evaluated the popup store as having effectively promoted the differentiated quality and competitiveness of Jindo Gopchang Gim, while rapidly expanding awareness of Jindo Gim among young people and foreigners.


A county official stated, "Through this Gopchang Gim popup store, Jindo Gopchang Gim has come even closer to consumers and the market. We will continue to enhance the value of Jindo Gim, increase the income of fishers, and create new growth engines for the local fisheries industry."
