Official Launch of the Carbon Neutral Cooperation Network
Yeosu City, South Jeolla Province (Mayor Chung Kimyung), announced that it held the "2025 Yeosu City Carbon Neutral Cooperation Network Performance and Strategy Sharing Meeting" at The Ocean Geomundo Hall on the 17th.
This event was organized to bring together organizations and groups related to carbon neutrality in the region, centered around Yeosu City, to share the progress and achievements so far, and to officially formalize the promotion of joint carbon-neutral projects and the strengthening of cooperative systems in the future.

The event was attended by major institutions and councils promoting carbon neutrality, including the Yeosu City Carbon Neutrality Support Center, Jeonnam Green Environment Support Center, Carbon Neutral Practice Solidarity, Chonnam National University Industrial Transformation Joint Training Center, Yeosu YMCA, Yeosu City and Yeosu Industrial Complex Joint Development Council, Yeosu Sustainable Development Council, Jeollanam-do Environmental Education Center, Yeosu City Public-Private-Academic Council for Climate Change Response, Yeosu Carbon Neutral Industry Policy Forum, and Yeosu City Council’s Climate Change Response Carbon Neutral Research Group.
At the event, each institution shared the status and achievements of their major projects for 2025, and a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for joint cooperation among Yeosu City’s carbon neutrality promotion agencies was signed.
Through this agreement, the city has officially launched a standing cooperation network for carbon neutrality, with participation from the policy, industry, civil society, and education sectors.
Previously, the city has been implementing various policies to become a global climate action city, such as promoting the bid to host COP33 and preparing for the 2026 UN Climate Week. With the launch of this cooperation network, the city plans to further strengthen its capacity to implement carbon neutrality at the regional level.
A city official stated, "Carbon neutrality is not a task that can be pursued by a single organization alone, but one that requires various stakeholders in the region to share roles and work together," adding, "Through this agreement, we expect Yeosu City’s carbon neutrality policies to be promoted in a more systematic and sustainable manner."
