Notably, in the context of a budget policy that emphasizes both efficiency through central government austerity and investment for growth, Namwon City clearly demonstrated the effectiveness of its "selection and concentration" strategy by ensuring that its core priority projects were intensively reflected during the National Assembly's budget review process.

Through a strategic response to public project competitions, the city was selected for 68 projects in 2025 alone, securing a total project budget of 169.3 billion won. Since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration, Namwon has cumulatively secured 307 projects worth 774.3 billion won through such competitions, marking a remarkable achievement.

To secure national funding, the city has held three meetings since last year to identify new state-funded projects, discovering core strategic initiatives linked to the advancement of the 8th administration's policy pledges.

Additionally, the city has proactively and aggressively responded by frequently holding briefings on the status of national funding efforts from the beginning of the year, continuously visiting central government agencies and the National Assembly to explain the necessity and justification for its key projects.

As a result of these efforts, major new projects secured include: ▲ Construction of the Namwon Police Training Center (44.23 billion won), ▲ Construction of a Joint-Type Happy Dormitory (16.1 billion won), and ▲ Development of AI-Based Next-Generation Exosome Technology and Standardization (40 billion won). The city also secured additional funding for ongoing projects, such as ▲ the Ceramic Exhibition Hall (17 billion won).

Through these projects, the city expects to play a pivotal role in regional growth by expanding public infrastructure, attracting young populations, and establishing a foundation for advanced bio-industries.

Several strategic projects aimed at building a foundation for future growth were also included: ▲ KTX Namwon Station Area Investment Leading District (10 billion won in national funding), ▲ New and Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project (3.7 billion won), ▲ Selection for the Drone Demonstration City Project for three consecutive years, ▲ Green Bio-Material Convergence New Material Industrialization Support Center (9.8 billion won), and ▲ Activation of Eco-Probiotics Utilization (1.9 billion won).

These initiatives are expected to significantly contribute to the creation of new growth hubs centered around the station area, the fostering of eco-friendly and future industries, the attraction of companies and job creation through new technology demonstrations, and the structural improvement and sustainable growth of Namwon's industrial sector.

In the field of culture and tourism, projects aimed at strengthening competitiveness by utilizing local resources have also been included. These include: ▲ Construction of the Lacquered Woodcraft Center (15.2 billion won), ▲ Remodeling of Seungwolgyo Bridge (5.8 billion won), and ▲ Development of Manin Park (30.4 billion won). By modernly reinterpreting traditional culture and history to expand tourism content, the city expects to increase the number of stay-type tourists, revitalize the local economy, and enhance the value of the city brand.

Projects to strengthen the competitiveness of future agriculture have also been secured. These include: ▲ Youth Rural Housing Project (10 billion won), ▲ Establishment of Rural Guidance Infrastructure (3.1 billion won), and ▲ Energy Efficiency Project for Loach Aquaculture Complex Using Biogas (1.5 billion won). These are expected to promote the stable settlement of young farmers and expand the foundation for eco-friendly and smart agriculture, thereby strengthening the income base of rural areas.

Major projects have also been included in welfare, education, and residential environment sectors: ▲ Public Healthcare University (63.2 billion won), ▲ Construction of Namwon Youth Sports Complex (49 billion won), ▲ Comprehensive Flood Risk Management for Baekpyeong District (36.6 billion won), ▲ Disaster Risk Improvement for Saengam District (11.5 billion won), ▲ Urban Wind Path Forest Project (20 billion won), and ▲ Regional Waste Incineration Facility (68.3 billion won).

Accordingly, these projects are expected to substantially enhance the quality of life for citizens by expanding medical infrastructure, preventing disasters, and creating a pleasant urban environment, as well as improving residential conditions and increasing the living population.

A city official stated, "Securing national funding is the foundation for regional growth and a key driver to overcome the risk of regional extinction," adding, "Based on this achievement, we will further enhance the completeness of our core projects next year and make all-out efforts to secure national funding through strategic projects that reflect Namwon's unique characteristics and the new government's policy direction."
