The Mounted Police Unit of the Jeju Autonomous Police Agency (led by Chief Oh Chungik) announced that, after strengthening its operational system and internal capacity this year, it will expand patrol activities and community participation programs next year.

This year, the Mounted Police Unit enhanced its health management system and established new standards for managing retired horses. Together with the Honorary Mounted Police, they conducted 212 joint training sessions and field operations.

Recently, the unit signed a business agreement with the National Institute of Animal Science under the Rural Development Administration and received two domestically bred riding horses free of charge. After adaptation training, these horses will be deployed for patrol and promotional activities starting next year.

Next year, pilot patrols will be conducted in two areas per day along Olle trails, forest paths, and major tourist attractions.

In addition, horseback riding experience classes for children and children with disabilities will be offered, and the unit will support major local events such as the National Sports Festival.

Park Sanghyun, Head of the Tourism Police Division, stated, "We will continue to develop an operational system that prioritizes the welfare and safety of horses, thereby strengthening community safety and resident participation, and providing unique policing services that only the Mounted Police can offer."
