Dongducheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyungdeok) announced on the 18th that it has been selected for the first time as an excellent city in the '2025 School Site Fee Management' performance evaluation and will receive a commendation from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province.
This evaluation assessed the school site fee management performance of 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province from October 2024 to September 2025. The evaluation comprehensively reviewed the total amount of school site fees collected, the collection rate compared to the amount imposed, and delinquency management performance.
Dongducheon City was selected as an excellent city and county in Gyeonggi Province by achieving balanced results across all evaluation categories. In particular, the city was highly praised for establishing a stable collection foundation through systematic imposition and collection management of school site fees, as well as active efforts to manage delinquencies, including ongoing encouragement of payment and installment plans for delinquent households.
The school site fee system is designed to secure funding necessary for the construction and expansion of school facilities and the improvement of educational environments in response to an increase in the student population due to development projects. Accurate imposition and thorough collection management by local governments are essential.
The Director of the Future Education Promotion Institute of Dongducheon City stated, "This commendation from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province is especially meaningful as it is the first time the city has received such recognition in the field of school site fee management," adding, "We will continue to do our utmost to ensure stable funding for educational environment improvements and to operate the fee system fairly and transparently."
