The Pohang Greenway Citizen Promotion Committee is a citizen participation body established to build public consensus for the Greenway Project, which aims to transform Pohang into a green ecological city. The committee comprises 100 members, including representatives from local civic organizations.

The meeting was attended by Mayor Lee Kangdeok, Kang Seokam, the General Chairperson of the Greenway Citizen Promotion Committee, and other committee members. The agenda included a year-end report on the Greenway Project, commendations for contributors, and an explanation of future plans such as the Greenway Vision 2030: 'A City in a Garden.'

The city has set forth a vision of 'a city in a garden where urban life and nature are connected.' Plans include establishing a Greenway network linking forest trails and waterways, creating a compact, pedestrian-centered city, and enhancing urban resilience to climate crises-all aimed at moving closer to achieving carbon neutrality.

Participants shared updates on the project's progress, engaged in Q&A and discussions about Pohang's vision as a future green city, and built consensus on developing an ecological city.

Throughout the year, Pohang City participated in major international events such as the ICLEI World Congress, the ICLEI International Forum, the World Green Growth Forum (WGGF), and the UN Global Innovation Hub S.I.W. At these events, the city showcased its Greenway policy case as an example of transitioning from an industrial city to a green city, thereby raising its policy profile both domestically and internationally.

Mayor Lee Kangdeok stated, "The Greenway Project is a process of urban transformation created together with citizens," adding, "We will continue to build a walkable and climate-resilient green city based on citizen participation."

The Pohang Greenway Project began in 2016 with the creation of the Cheolgil Forest and has since expanded throughout the city, establishing a walkable urban environment and a green network designed to address climate change.

In particular, the early achievement of the '20 Million Life Trees Planting Campaign' and the expansion of urban forests have been recognized as major accomplishments that have significantly improved Pohang's city image and residents' living environment.

With the recent opening of the Haksancheon stream, a circular green axis connecting Cheolgil Forest, Dongbin Inner Harbor, Pohang Canal, and Hyeongsan River has been completed. This is expected to revitalize the old downtown area by increasing pedestrian traffic along the Greenway.
