NextTrade Will Not Operate Pre-Market Session on New Year's Opening Day
The Korea Exchange has designated December 31 as the year-end market holiday. Accordingly, the securities and derivatives markets will operate until December 30, and on January 2, 2026, the regular session of the securities market will open at 10:00 a.m., while the regular session of the derivatives market will open at 9:45 a.m. The closing times will remain unchanged.
On December 18, the Korea Exchange announced that the trading hours on the first trading day of 2026 (January 2) will be temporarily adjusted due to the stock market opening ceremony.
Night trading for derivatives, which begins at 6:00 p.m. on December 30, will proceed as usual. Clearing at the over-the-counter derivatives central counterparty (CCP) and transaction reporting to the trade repository (TR) will also operate normally without a year-end holiday.
The ex-dividend date for listed companies with a year-end (December) settlement date will be December 29. Investors who purchase shares by December 26 will be eligible to receive dividends.
NextTrade, the alternative trading system, will also have its last trading day of the year on December 30 and will be closed on December 31.
On the opening day, January 2, the pre-market session will not be operated, and both the main market and the block and basket trading markets will all begin at 10:00:30 a.m. The closing times will remain the same as the current schedule.
