The special class, scheduled for the 28th, has been organized to support Ammusait Hospital, the only general hospital within the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, which is facing the risk of closure due to reductions in international aid.
The International Rescue Committee and Ballet Trinity have planned this ballet class to provide professional educational opportunities for the next generation of dancers, while also promoting solidarity and participation in response to humanitarian crises. The class will be held in a total of five sessions, ranging from elementary to high school students. It will feature volunteer instructors, including Sunhee Kim, Honorary Professor at the Korea National University of Arts Dance School, as well as dancers such as Kangwon Lee, Seungmin Lee, and Jaeseung Sung, all of whom have won major domestic and international competitions.
Joohee Lee, head of Ballet Trinity, stated, "We prepared this special class with the belief that the power of art can expand into social solidarity," and added, "As so many dancers have shown interest and joined together that registration closed early, I hope this support will be meaningfully delivered to the residents of Kakuma, who are facing a medical crisis."
Eunyoung Lee, head of the International Rescue Committee Korea, said, "I sincerely thank Ballet Trinity, Professor Sunhee Kim, and the participating dancers for willingly joining this talent donation," and added, "The warm solidarity gathered at the end of the year will be a great help in keeping Ammusait Hospital running and saving the lives of refugee families."
Details about the support campaign to help sustain Ammusait Hospital in the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, as well as information on how to participate, can be found on the official website of the International Rescue Committee.
