Lim Byeongtaek: "Implementing Policies That Young Adults Can Truly Experience on the Ground"

On December 18, the city of Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, announced that it will launch the expanded and reorganized "Siheung City Foundation for Youth and Young Adults" on January 1 of next year, building upon the existing Siheung City Youth Foundation.

Siheung City Youth Foundation to Launch Next Year... Strengthening Integrated Support for Youth and Young Adults

The city explained that this reorganization aims to strengthen the connection between youth and young adult policies, ensure continuity of support throughout different life stages, and proactively respond to the evolving demands of young adult policy.

Previously, the city operated a task force team for over a year to prepare for the launch of the integrated foundation. Earlier this year, a policy roundtable was held to incorporate feedback from the field into policy planning. Subsequently, the institutional framework was reinforced through amendments to relevant ordinances, and a systematic approach was taken to establish the direction for integrated support for youth and young adults, organizational structure, business systems, and overall operational plans.

The newly launched foundation will establish a "Young Adult Business Division" and directly operate the "Young Adult Station," which will serve as a hub for implementing young adult policies on the ground.

Next year, the foundation plans to: ▲ strengthen its role as a hub for young adult policies encompassing employment, welfare, culture, and information; ▲ provide psychological and emotional support using counseling infrastructure and identify isolated and reclusive young adults; ▲ support work experience opportunities and offer employment consulting and job training connecting youth and young adults; ▲ foster cultural planners and support exhibitions and performances to promote cultural and artistic activities; and ▲ operate young adult communities and provide education and competency-building initiatives such as certification and job training programs.

Lim Byeongtaek, Mayor of Siheung, stated, "With the launch of the integrated foundation, we will connect local youth and young adults within a single policy framework, ensuring generous support at every stage of their growth. We will implement policies that young adults can truly feel in the field, centering on the Young Adult Station."
