LG CNS and Cline Usher in the Era of AI Developers... Developing 'Agentic AI Solutions'

Combining Cline's Coding Agent Technology
Joint Development Agreement Signed with Key Executives in Attendance

LG CNS is ushering in the era of AI developers by joining forces with the global artificial intelligence (AI) coding agent development company, Cline. The company is set to develop agentic AI-based solutions, where AI leads the entire IT system development process-from analyzing client requirements and designing, to coding, testing, and quality assessment-based on natural language.

On the 18th, LG CNS announced that it had signed a “Joint Development Agreement (JDA) for Next-Generation Agentic AI-Based Solutions” with Cline at the LG Science Park headquarters in Magok, Seoul. The signing ceremony was attended by key executives, including Hyun Shinkyun, CEO of LG CNS, and Saud Rizwan Klein, CEO of Cline. Under this agreement, the two companies will jointly develop agentic AI-based solutions by combining LG CNS’s proprietary AI coding technology with Cline’s coding agent.

The goal is to elevate AI from a simple assistant to a developer capable of making independent decisions and working autonomously. Cline’s coding agent is provided as open source. Since all components are public, companies can flexibly adapt the solution to their own internal systems and infrastructure environments. Code designed to suit each company’s characteristics is not leaked externally, and the agent does not train on company data, offering strong security advantages. Another strength is that it is not tied to any specific AI model or cloud platform.Cline’s coding agent recently recorded a 4,704% growth rate on the global open-source development platform GitHub, making it one of the fastest-growing AI software solutions in the world.

LG CNS will combine this with its extensive development experience and know-how accumulated across various industries. Currently, LG CNS is building a “knowledge foundation,” a database that organizes the expertise gained from numerous client development projects into a form that AI can utilize. The knowledge foundation aggregates the technologies and information required for AI to carry out development work. AI analyzes client requirements, retrieves and analyzes the necessary technologies and information from the knowledge foundation, and delivers customized results through project design, coding, testing, and quality assessment.

For example, when developing an abnormal transaction detection service for a financial client, AI analyzes client requests such as types of abnormal transactions and reporting procedures, derives system design plans, and writes the source code autonomously. It then automatically modifies the code and generates hundreds of test cases for validation. Developers only need to focus on reviewing the quality of the output produced by AI.

LG CNS plans to first apply this solution to internal projects to verify its performance and stability, and then expand it to external business. Ahn Hyunjung, Executive Director of Application Architecture at the Digital Business Division of LG CNS, stated, “We are rapidly adopting advanced technologies to proactively apply agentic AI in the AI coding domain,” and added, “By utilizing agentic AI solutions both for building client systems and providing solutions to clients, we will bring innovation to IT system quality and productivity.”
