Hana Financial Group announced on December 18 that it held the 'Hana Social Venture University 4th Cohort' performance sharing event at its Myeongdong headquarters located in Euljiro, Jung-gu, Seoul, to discover and nurture young entrepreneurs and create youth jobs.
'Hana Social Venture University' is Hana Financial Group's flagship social value creation program, which collaborates with 30 base universities in five regions nationwide to discover regionally specialized business items and foster entrepreneurial talent.
Since its first year in 2022, Hana Financial Group's 'Hana Social Venture University' has been selected for the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Future Tomorrow Job Experience Support Project' for four consecutive years, establishing itself as a leading program for public-private-academic cooperation. To date, a total of 2,471 teams and 5,050 individuals have participated in the program, with 359 teams successfully launching startups, thereby driving regional economic revitalization and youth job creation.
Through the 4th cohort of the 'Hana Social Venture University' program, Hana Financial Group provided 1,500 participants (763 teams) with 60 hours of online education to build foundational entrepreneurial skills, followed by eight rounds of on-site foundational entrepreneurship training at each base university to help participants further develop their startup ideas.
Sixty-two outstanding teams selected through this program each received 3 million won in business execution funding, as well as dedicated coaching for business advancement, one-on-one mentoring with experienced entrepreneurs from their respective industries, and hands-on marketing education. In addition, opportunities were provided for further growth, such as regional university council meetings and networking events with previous 'Hana Social Venture University' participants.
The performance sharing event was attended by students from the final 20 teams selected through preliminary evaluation, university officials, and experienced entrepreneurs who participated as program mentors. For the 12 teams that made it to the final presentation stage, both internal judges from Hana Financial Group and external expert judges conducted evaluations.
In the 4th cohort of 'Hana Social Venture University,' the 'OCEAN FUTURE' team, which presented an organic fertilizer made from jellyfish for restoring wildfire-damaged soil as their startup item, won the grand prize. The grand prize-winning team received 30 million won in startup support funds.
Additionally, three teams received the Excellence Award (15 million won each in startup support funds), three teams received the Merit Award (10 million won each), five teams received the Encouragement Award (5 million won each), and eight teams were selected for the Participation Award (2.5 million won each), recognizing their potential as aspiring entrepreneurs.
A Hana Financial Group representative stated, "Since 2022, the Hana Social Venture University program has supported the capacity building of aspiring entrepreneurs. Hana Financial Group will continue to provide generous support for young people so that nurturing young entrepreneurs leads to a virtuous cycle of regional economic revitalization and job creation."
Meanwhile, Hana Financial Group is engaged in various ESG activities to create social value, such as the 'Hana Power On Innovative Company Internship' to address recruitment difficulties for social innovation companies and create jobs for youth, people with disabilities, and women with career experience, as well as the 'Hana Power On Second Life' program to support the reemployment and entrepreneurship of experienced middle-aged professionals.
