SK Hynix has once again demonstrated its technological competitiveness in the high-capacity server memory sector.
On December 18, SK Hynix announced that it has become the first in the industry to officially receive certification that its 256GB DDR5 server memory module, which uses 32-gigabit (Gb) DRAM chips, can be used with Intel’s latest server central processing unit (CPU), the Xeon 6.
The certified product is a registered dual in-line memory module (RDIMM) used in servers and workstations. RDIMMs feature an additional chip that relays signals between the memory and the CPU, enabling more stable processing of large volumes of data, and are therefore mainly used in data center servers.
SK Hynix passed the certification after undergoing several stages of evaluation for performance, compatibility, and quality at Intel’s data center research facility in the United States. Earlier, in January of this year, the company also received the same certification from Intel for its 256GB DDR5 server memory based on the more advanced 1a process technology.
SK Hynix explained that this certification confirms both the reliability and stability of its product when combined with Intel’s latest server platform. Based on this, the company plans to expand cooperation with global data center operators and respond to the increasing demand for server memory.
