Korea Investment & Securities is launching the first Integrated Investment Account (IMA) product as the nation’s first comprehensive IMA business operator.
The company announced on December 18 that it will begin selling its first IMA product. An IMA is a principal-guaranteed, performance-based product where a securities firm pools customer deposits to invest in corporate finance assets such as venture capital, and returns the performance to customers based on the results of asset management.
The newly launched first IMA product is designed as a closed-end structure with a two-year maturity. The minimum subscription amount is 1 million won, with no investment limit per individual. The subscription period runs until December 23, and customers can subscribe through Korea Investment & Securities branches, its website, and the mobile trading system (MTS). As a performance-based product, there is no predetermined rate of return; the final payout is determined based on asset management performance and asset value at maturity.
The managed assets will focus on corporate finance assets with relatively stable cash flows, such as corporate loans, corporate bonds, and acquisition finance. The primary objective is the stable preservation of principal, while also pursuing returns in excess of market interest rates. The product will diversify investments into alternative assets in unlisted and private markets, which have traditionally been difficult for individual investors to access directly.
Kim Sunghwan, CEO of Korea Investment & Securities, stated, "The IMA is not simply a new product, but a productive financial infrastructure that connects asset management and corporate finance. Following our launch of the first short-term note, we will responsibly fulfill our role as the first IMA business operator by expanding the market and setting new standards."
Korea Investment & Securities plans to faithfully fulfill its regulatory obligations to supply venture capital, while also introducing a range of IMA products tailored to different customer segments, maturities, and risk levels in stages, based on market response and product performance.
