The 'Sustainable Management Government Awards,' hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Productivity Center (KPC), is the only government award system in Korea dedicated to ESG. Each year, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy selects and honors companies and organizations that have achieved excellent results in environment (E), social (S), and governance (G), and have contributed to spreading a culture of sustainable management.
This year, Hansae Co., Ltd. was awarded the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Commendation in recognition of its outstanding achievements across all areas of environment, social, and governance. In the environmental sector, since declaring carbon neutrality in 2023, Hansae Co., Ltd. has continued practical efforts to reduce carbon emissions. The company is actively responding to the climate crisis by promoting energy transition through the installation of solar panels, the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (REC), and the use of biofuels. Additionally, by joining the global initiative 'SBTi' this year, Hansae Co., Ltd. is accelerating its realization of carbon neutrality.
In the social sector, Hansae Co., Ltd. has been steadily expanding its welfare programs to create an environment where employees can work happily. The company has implemented various welfare systems, including an in-house loan program, women's lounges and nursing rooms, and flexible working hours for employees with childcare responsibilities. In recognition of these achievements, Hansae Co., Ltd. was selected as a 'Family-Friendly Certified Company' in 2024. In addition,
the company is also strengthening the transparency of its governance structure. This year, Hansae Co., Ltd. introduced a 'Board of Directors Evaluation System' to comprehensively assess the composition, operation, and expertise of the board. The results will be reflected in the nomination of future board candidates and in programs to enhance board capabilities. Through these efforts, Hansae Co., Ltd. aims to ensure the independence and expertise of the board and to establish a more responsible decision-making system.
Kim Ikhwan, Vice Chairman of Hansae Co., Ltd., stated, "As a leading company in the global fashion market, Hansae Co., Ltd. has consistently practiced 'sustainable management.' With this award as a new starting point, we will further advance our ESG management across environment, social, and governance, and take the lead in building a sustainable fashion ecosystem together with all stakeholders, including partners, local communities, and clients."
