During the networking event, 12 supply companies shared their research and development (R&D) and commercialization experiences, while major demand companies presented test results on domestically produced materials, parts, and equipment, providing valuable references for latecomer companies in their development efforts. In addition, the latest trends in the biopharmaceutical logistics (cold chain) sector, which is emerging as a new market, were shared, raising awareness of the need to develop cold chain materials, parts, and equipment.

Notably, this event was significant in that it included not only domestic but also overseas supply companies, moving beyond simple “competition” to jointly discuss “mutual cooperation” in product development and marketing.

Furthermore, since its launch in September 2020, the council has been operated mainly around government R&D. Starting next year, however, it plans to introduce a systematic, company-driven management approach by strengthening its support for commercialization. To this end, a new operations committee will be established, which will take the lead in identifying proposals for the government and organizing government meetings.

Lee Euill, CEO of Excell Therapeutics, was elected as the inaugural chairman of the operations committee. Other committee members include Han Jaejin, CEO of CellSafe; Lee Hanseok, CEO of BTR; Kim Doohyun, CEO of eCell; Kim Taeyoung, Executive Director of MicroDigital; Choi Surim, Head of Research at Amicogen; Park Sungryul, CEO of Umteul; and Choi Soonwoo, Team Leader at GC Green Cross. The committee also plans to discuss adding more members and forming subcommittees in response to corporate demand.

Oh Kihwan, Executive Director of the Korea Bio Association, stated, “Korea has become a global production base in the biopharmaceutical sector, but most of the materials, parts, and equipment used in production are still imported. Starting next year, we will strengthen cooperation among domestic and overseas companies and the government to stabilize the supply chain, and, centered on the newly formed operations committee, we will implement activities to build commercialization and supply track records.”
