Chung-Ang University announced on the 19th that Sungje Park, Professor at the College of Physical Education (age 55), has been inaugurated as the 15th President of the Korean Olympic Torch Association, a non-profit organization.
Professor Park was elected as the next president during the "2025 Korean Olympic Torch Association Fall Academic Conference, Sports Awards Ceremony, and Presidential Inauguration and Retirement Ceremony" held at Olympic Parktel in Seoul on the 5th. His official term will begin in January next year.
A former archery athlete, Professor Park earned his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees at Chung-Ang University. He currently serves as the Dean of the College of Physical Education at Chung-Ang University, Vice President of the Korean Society of Physical Education, Vice President of the Korean Society of Social Physical Education, and Asian Vice President of the International Organization Health Sports Kinesiology (IOHSK), among other key positions, actively contributing to the field.
In his inaugural address, Professor Park stated, "During my tenure, I will propose development directions and future-oriented policies for Korean elite sports, and take the lead in boosting morale and improving the rights and interests of athletes."
Founded in 1996, the Korean Olympic Torch Association is a private sports organization led primarily by university professors who are former athletes who have competed in the Olympics and other international events. The association continues to make policy proposals and provide support activities for the development of elite sports.
