Mayor Shin Sangjin: "Old Downtown Maintenance Projects to Accelerate with Systematic Administrative Support"
To Be Established on the First Basement Level of Sujeong Community Center... Full Operation Begins in 2026
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sangjin) will open the ‘Old Downtown Urban Maintenance Support Center’ on December 23 to support redevelopment and reconstruction projects in the old downtown areas of Sujeong District and Jungwon District, following the establishment of the Bundang Reconstruction Support Center in November.

The Old Downtown Urban Maintenance Support Center will be located on the first basement level of the Sujeong Community Center and will serve as a resident support hub for promoting redevelopment and reconstruction maintenance projects in the old downtown area. The center is scheduled to begin temporary operations in January 2026 to provide comprehensive administrative support for maintenance projects.
Since maintenance projects are directly related to residents’ property rights, Seongnam City will assign specialized personnel to operate the center. The center plans to offer issue-focused support, including consultations for each redevelopment and reconstruction project area, tailored information, and professional consulting services.
At the opening ceremony of the ‘Old Downtown Urban Maintenance Support Center’ on December 23, Mayor Shin Sangjin will attend and outline the center’s operational direction and support plans.
Mayor Shin Sangjin stated, “We will continue to provide systematic and proactive administrative support to ensure the smooth progress of redevelopment and reconstruction maintenance projects in the old downtown area.”

Meanwhile, Seongnam City is sequentially holding preliminary residents’ briefings for the establishment of redevelopment maintenance plans and the designation of maintenance areas in five districts within the Sujeong and Jungwon residential zones. The briefings began on December 17 with Sujin 2 District and Taepyeong 2 and 4 Districts, followed by Sanseong District on December 19, Dandae District on December 22, and Sangdaewon 1 and 3 Districts on December 24. During these sessions, the city is gathering residents’ feedback on the overall maintenance projects, including the main points of each district’s maintenance plan, estimated contributions, land use plans, urban planning facilities, and strategies for expanding living infrastructure.
