PNC Championship Family Event Tees Off
'Senior King' Langer Aims for Third Straight Victory
Woods, Who Played Until Last Year, Focuses on Rehab After Back Surgery
'King of the Senior Tour' Bernhard Langer from Germany will compete with his son Jason in pursuit of a third consecutive victory.
They will participate in the PNC Championship, a family team golf event, held over two days starting December 20 (local time) at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club (par 72, 7,106 yards) in Orlando, Florida, United States. This is a PGA Tour Champions (senior) event.

Players who have won a major championship or The Players Championship, often called the "fifth major," form two-person teams with a family member and compete together. A total of 20 teams will vie for the title this year. The tournament is played in a 36-hole scramble format, where both players hit tee shots and continue from the better position.
Langer holds the record for the most wins at this event, having claimed victory not only in the past two years but also in 2019, 2014, 2006, and 2005. He lifted the trophy with his son Stefan in 2005 and 2006, and with Jason in subsequent years. This year, his partner is once again Jason.

'Golf legend' Tiger Woods of the United States will not participate. Although he drew attention by competing with his son Charlie from 2020 through last year, he will not be taking part this year. Woods, who finished runner-up with Charlie in both 2021 and last year, has been focusing on rehabilitation after undergoing Achilles tendon surgery in March and back surgery in October.
Earlier this month, ahead of the Hero World Challenge, a premier event he hosts, Woods stated, "My recovery is not progressing as quickly as I expected. It's difficult to confirm when I will return." Charlie, who has gradually showcased his golf skills at the PNC Championship, has been making a name for himself, including being selected for the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) First Team of the Year.
