Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) received a plaque of appreciation from the Korea Child and Youth Group Home Association on the 17th for its contribution to improving the residential environment of child group homes.
Child group homes are facilities where children and adolescents in need of protection due to family dissolution, abuse, or neglect live together in a small family-like setting.
In July of this year, GH signed an agreement for the "G.U.JU Project" with Woori Bank and the Korea Child and Youth Group Home Association. Under this agreement, a total budget of 600 million won will be invested over four years to gradually improve the residential environment of 73 aging group homes in Gyeonggi Province. As part of the first phase this year, 18 households were selected and the improvement work was completed.

A significant number of group homes in the province are operated in houses that are more than 25 years old, leading to ongoing concerns about safety and deteriorating living conditions. However, it has been difficult to improve these facilities with only government operating funds.
Kim Yongjin, President of GH, stated, "I hope this project will serve as a foundation for marginalized children and adolescents to grow up healthy," adding, "As the largest public institution in the province, we will continue to fulfill our social responsibilities and take the lead in realizing public value."
