The Jeonju Agricultural Technology Center and Jeonju Senior Club in North Jeolla Province are recruiting participants for the "2026 Senior Urban Garden Manager (Healing Farm Guide·Urban Agriculture Consultant) Project Group" until December 24.
According to the center on December 17, this recruitment aims to promote urban agriculture and create jobs for seniors. A total of 99 participants will be selected: 64 for the Healing Farm Guide project group and 35 for the Urban Agriculture Consultant project group. Eligibility is open to Jeonju residents aged 60 or older who are interested in agriculture.
Seniors selected for next year's "Urban Agriculture Consultant Project Group" will be responsible for managing and maintaining urban agriculture spaces established by Jeonju City, such as welfare centers, middle schools, and public institutions, as well as assisting with agricultural experience activities.
Possible workplaces include the Agricultural Technology Center, Yangji Senior Welfare Center, Jeonbuk General Social Welfare Center, Wansan Middle School, Geunyeong Middle School, Jeonju City Library, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Disability Support Center, and Jeonju Senior Club.
The "Healing Farm Guide Project Group" specializes in managing school gardens established in elementary schools. Members will be dispatched to schools, where they will cultivate gardens with children and assist in agricultural experience activities.
Eligible schools include Geumam Elementary, Nam Elementary, Daeseong Elementary, Deokil Elementary, Deokjin Elementary, Munhak Elementary, Buk Elementary, Saeyeon Elementary, Seogok Elementary, Seomun Elementary, Songwon Elementary, Sindong Elementary, Yangji Elementary, Yanghyeon Elementary, Yeoul Elementary, Yongdeok Elementary, Yongheung Elementary, Wondong Elementary, Jeonil Elementary, Jungin Elementary, Chopo Elementary, Palbok Elementary, Pungnam Elementary, and Jeolla Elementary.
Final participants will complete job training (urban garden crop management, pest and eco-friendly management, on-site operation standards, etc.) provided by the Jeonju Agricultural Technology Division in February next year, and will officially begin work at their assigned institutions from March.
The city plans to standardize participants' competencies in advance through this process and enhance the quality and safety of garden operations at each school and institution. Further details can be found in the announcements section of the Jeonju Senior Club website.
Previously, the Jeonju Agricultural Technology Center and Jeonju Senior Club strengthened the management system for urban agriculture sites through this year's project group operations.
Specifically, the Urban Agriculture Consultant project group managed nine urban agriculture spaces (totaling 9,060 square meters), while the Healing Farm Guide project group systematically managed school gardens at 21 elementary schools (5,517 square meters of outdoor gardens and 363 container gardens).
An official from the Jeonju Agricultural Technology Center stated, "The activities of senior urban garden managers will strengthen the foundation for sustainable urban agriculture and provide seniors with greater social participation and vitality in life," adding, "We hope for the interest and participation of many people."
