Maintaining Last Year's Donation Scale Despite Uncertain Business Conditions
Supporting Vulnerable Groups Through the Community Chest of Korea
POSCO Group has donated 10 billion won to the Community Chest of Korea for year-end neighbor assistance.
On December 17, POSCO Group announced that it donated 10 billion won during a donation ceremony held at the Community Chest of Korea headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul. The ceremony was attended by Kim Byungjun, Chairman of the Community Chest of Korea, and Shin Geoncheol, Head of Management Support at POSCO Holdings, among others. The funds delivered to the Community Chest of Korea will be used for projects that promote community welfare, such as supporting education for future generations and helping vulnerable groups achieve self-reliance.
Despite ongoing uncertainty in the business environment, POSCO Group contributed the same amount as last year. Since 1999, POSCO has donated to the Community Chest of Korea every year at the end of the year, with cumulative donations reaching 212 billion won.
This year, nine group companies participated in the donation, including POSCO Holdings, POSCO, POSCO International, POSCO E&C, POSCO Future M, POSCO DX, POSCO Flow, POSCO Steelion, and POSCO M-Tech.
Separately, POSCO Group also operates employee-participation donation programs and volunteer activities. The '1% Marichae (My Little Charity)' program, in which employees voluntarily participate, identifies support projects for those in welfare blind spots through an in-house donation platform. This year, approximately 800 million won in donations will be delivered to about 100 projects. Since the platform was established in 2020, a total of 5.3 billion won has been provided to 838 organizations.
In addition, the POSCO Volunteer Group, an employee volunteer organization, continues activities such as forming sisterhood relationships with villages and organizations, supporting farming during busy seasons, facility repairs, and environmental clean-up, mainly in areas near steelworks in Pohang and Gwangyang. The 'Global Volunteer Week,' in which employees at overseas sites participate, is also held annually.
