12-Week Curriculum Launched to Strengthen Capabilities in Recycled Material Certification and Circular Resource Management
Based on the four-party memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in October for establishing mandatory use of recycled materials and a certification system, a "Practical Training Program on Circular Resources and Certification" has been launched to strengthen capabilities in recycled material certification and circular resource management.
Key personnel from organizations responsible for operating and implementing the mandatory use of recycled materials-such as Korea Environment Corporation, Korea Resource Circulation Service Agency, and Korea Packaging Recycling Business Cooperative-are participating in this training. The program aims to provide practical education that supports the establishment of cooperative systems between policy and field operations, with a focus on enhancing capabilities in recycling certification management.
The training program is designed to provide a structural understanding of the mandatory use of recycled materials and the certification system. The curriculum covers: ▲ the basic structure of certification systems ▲ certifications related to biomass and circular resources ▲ internal auditor training ▲ global certification standards such as ISCC, GRS, and RCS ▲ ESG disclosure and verification standards ▲ LCA and carbon footprint assessment ▲ practical aspects of certification audits. The course is delivered in 12 modular topics, progressing step by step.
The purpose of this program is to systematize the practical skills required by each operating agency and to improve the accuracy and consistency of recycled material certification management overall. In particular, it is designed to strengthen understanding of common standards and procedures throughout the entire process-from collection and recycling to production and use-thereby supporting effective implementation of the system in the field.
Control Union Korea, which is responsible for operating the training, stated, "The core of the mandatory use of recycled materials system is that all stakeholders involved in collection, production, and use must understand the same standards and procedures. We expect this training program to contribute to the stable establishment of the recycled materials certification system and to the effective operation of the policy."
Going forward, there are also plans to gradually expand the scope of specialized training to cover the broader fields of circular resources and sustainability, building on the foundation of this program.
