‘Total Marine Services’ Covering Ships, Engines, and Logistics
Exploring Cooperation in AI and Digital Logistics
The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority (headed by Park Sungho) visited Hanil Fuji Korea, located in the hinterland of Busan New Port, on December 16 to inspect the company's operations and discuss its competitiveness as a global ship and marine services company, as well as potential cooperation with the region's logistics and maritime industries.
Hanil Fuji Korea began as Hanil Ship Supplies in 1974 and has grown into a global marine services company through a joint venture with the Fuji Trading Group. The company provides integrated services across the marine industry, including ship and offshore parts and engine technology, ship supplies, overseas newbuilding packages, marine lubricants, and the supply of food ingredients and bonded goods.
Currently, Hanil Fuji Korea does business with approximately 1,000 shipowners, shipyards, oil majors, and ship management companies worldwide. Among these, about 600 clients are based in Europe, representing the largest share of its customer base.
On this day, Hanil Fuji Korea CEO Lee Baemyung introduced the company's six business divisions, each specializing in areas such as parts, engines, ship supplies, projects, catering, and logistics. He explained that the company is continuously expanding its global supply chain through an IT-driven management system focused on big data-based customer analysis, new business development, and risk management.
The company has also established a global one-stop supply process that seamlessly connects every stage, from overseas procurement and domestic scheduling to port-adjacent logistics center operations and ship boarding. In fact, Hanil Fuji Korea's workforce increased by 43 people over five years, from 241 in 2021 to 284 in 2025, with youth employment accounting for 66%, demonstrating stable growth.
During this site visit, the Free Economic Zone Authority focused discussions on expanding the use of Busan New Port for overseas procurement, cooperation on port and logistics infrastructure, linking new services in food ingredients and catering, and supporting logistics efficiency through AI and digital technologies.
Park Sungho, head of the Free Economic Zone Authority, stated, "The global one-stop logistics system centered on Busan New Port will be at the core of the strategic value that the Busan and Jinhae regions will have in the era of the Arctic shipping route. Cooperation with global marine services companies like Hanil Fuji Korea will be an important driving force for the future marine logistics industry."
