The Korea Music Copyright Association announced on December 16 that singer-songwriter Ishiha has been elected as its 25th president.
The association held an extraordinary general meeting at the COEX Magok Convention Center in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, on the same day and conducted the presidential election. Ishiha was elected with 472 out of 781 valid votes. His term will begin in February next year and last for four years.
Ishiha has been active as the vocalist of the rock band "The Cross," releasing songs such as "Don't Cry" and "For You." He is currently serving as an adjunct professor in the Department of Distribution and Logistics Management at Sejong University Graduate School.
He is recognized for having gained practical experience in the association’s operational system, major issues, and the overall copyright system while serving as an executive director in the 24th administration of the association.
In this election, Ishiha identified key tasks such as strengthening transparency in the association’s operations, establishing a member-centered management system, achieving a real increase in copyright royalties, and developing a copyright management system to respond to the era of artificial intelligence (AI).
Ishiha stated, "I will create a member-first association and ensure transparent management across all operations to build a trustworthy organization."
