Entrepreneurship Beyond the Classroom: Tongmyong University Student Brand "Revlife" in the Spotlight

Selected as an Outstanding Case in the Small Business Competency Enhancement Project by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups

An idea that originated in a classroom has gained traction in the market.

Tongmyong University announced that Kim Hyunkyung, CEO of the Busan-based customized home fabric brand "Revlife" and a first-year student in the Department of Entrepreneurship, was selected on December 10 as an outstanding case in the "2025 Small Business Competency Enhancement Project" organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

Revlife is a brand that collaborates with local sewing artisans with over 30 years of experience to produce and sell home fabric products such as bedding and curtains, using domestically sourced fabrics and original pattern designs.

To enhance the brand's competitiveness, CEO Kim Hyunkyung participated in Tongmyong University's "Local Content-Focused University" program, actively incorporating value consumption trends such as local, handmade, and sustainability into the brand.

Through this program, Kim focused on learning how to infuse local culture and sensibility into products, and began planning new products and building a brand story based on materials, colors, and patterns inspired by the lifestyle culture of the Busan region. As a result, the brand established a distinct local identity and achieved increased sales compared to the first half of the year, earning recognition as an outstanding case.

CEO Kim Hyunkyung stated, "By participating in the Local Content-Focused University program, I was able to shift my management perspective from focusing solely on 'product manufacturing' to a management approach that considers both local content and storytelling," adding, "I hope to grow Revlife into an emotional home fabric brand that represents Busan."

Professor Noh Seongyeo commented, "Winning this award is a prime example of the tangible results achieved through two years of the Local Content-Focused University education," and added, "We will continue to do our best to support small businesses and foster local companies that contribute to youth job creation through educational programs that integrate local culture and commercial districts."
