A Place for Family Communication and Empathy
Gumi Office of Education in North Gyeongsang Province (Superintendent Min Byungdo) hosted a warm year-end cultural performance outing for families at the Yeungnam University Cheonma Art Center on December 14, with 80 local elementary, middle, and high school students and their guardians participating.
This event was designed to allow families from diverse backgrounds to watch cultural and artistic performances together, thereby deepening their understanding of one another and strengthening their sense of community. In particular, it gained added significance by providing a cultural and artistic experience open to all families, including those with migrant backgrounds.

Participants enjoyed the "2025 Christmas Cantata," a signature year-end performance, fostering their artistic sensibilities. After the performance, they spent time sharing Christmas cake and having dinner with their families, creating a warm and meaningful atmosphere.
Gumi Office of Education expects that this cultural and artistic experience will help broaden communication and empathy among family members, as well as foster positive character development in students.
The office also believes that the event will serve as an opportunity to raise awareness of understanding and embracing various cultural backgrounds, while expanding each family's access to cultural and artistic experiences.
Min Byungdo, Superintendent of Gumi Office of Education, stated, "Moments when families experience culture and the arts together greatly contribute not only to students' emotional development but also to fostering a deeper understanding of one another. We will continue to provide a variety of programs that connect all families in the region through culture and the arts."
