Mokpo City Wins Excellence Award for Win-Win Sisterhood Partnership

Special Grant of 80 Million Won from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety

Mokpo City Wins Excellence Award for Win-Win Sisterhood Partnership Mokpo City Selected as an Excellent Case of Win-Win Sisterhood Partnership for Revitalizing Local Communities.

Mokpo City in South Jeolla Province is being recognized as a model for revitalizing the local economy, thanks to its achievements in win-win cooperation with central government ministries and public institutions.


The city announced that it received the Excellence Award in the "Win-Win Sisterhood Partnership for Revitalizing Local Communities" contest organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.


This contest was held for 141 local governments nationwide, and Mokpo City was selected as an excellent case with the theme "Mokpo, the City of Taste and Tourism, Paving the Way for Local Economic Cooperation with Ventures."


On September 29, the city signed a sisterhood partnership agreement with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Korea Venture Investment Corp., a public institution under the ministry.


At that time, Han Seong-sook, Minister of SMEs and Startups, visited Mokpo in person to attend the signing ceremony. Follow-up exchange programs were also held, including participation in the Hometown Love Donation campaign and a shopping event at Dongbu Market.


Based on this cooperative foundation, the city promoted win-win programs linking local gastronomy and tourism resources, encouraging repeat visits from participating organizations and expanding local consumption. In particular, the city received high marks for generating economic ripple effects by connecting local resources to actual visits and spending.


For example, on November 11, the "2025 Gwangju-Jeonnam-Jeju Startup Integrated IR Camp" was held at the Mokpo Culinary Culture Gallery Haegwan1897. By utilizing modern historical and cultural spaces to enhance the city’s brand value, and by combining the expertise of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Korea Venture Investment Corp., Mokpo succeeded in attracting investment for local startups and revitalizing entrepreneurship, which was also recognized as an excellent case.


With this award, Mokpo City will receive a special grant of 80 million won from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, which will be used to further accelerate the operation of sisterhood programs and local economic revitalization projects.


A city official stated, "We will continue to discover and operate various cooperation models that enable central and local governments, businesses, and local governments to achieve win-win outcomes together, so that Mokpo, the city of taste and tourism, can become a leading example of local economic revitalization."
