Gumi Police Station in North Gyeongsang Province (Chief Yoo Ojae) has implemented proactive traffic safety measures to prevent traffic accidents and congestion caused by heavy snowfall and road icing (black ice) during the winter season.
First, the police visited Gumi City Hall to check whether CCTV cameras, electric heating wires, and brine spraying devices had been installed in areas prone to frequent icing within the jurisdiction. They also established an emergency contact network with relevant agencies to ensure prompt snow removal operations in the event of severe weather or heavy snowfall.

In addition, the police urged delivery and courier companies (including quick service providers), which frequently engage in outdoor work and vehicle operations, to comply with safety regulations such as prohibitions on speeding, signal violations, and reckless driving, as well as maintaining a safe distance between vehicles. In particular, they visited private taxi and chartered bus companies that transport passengers to promote the use of winter tires and to encourage deceleration driving for safety and maintaining sufficient distance between vehicles, in order to prevent major traffic accidents during the winter.
Yoo Ojae, Chief of Gumi Police Station, stated, "Since traffic accidents in winter can lead to major incidents, we will do our utmost to minimize the inconvenience to citizens caused by snowfall and road icing, and to prevent traffic accidents through continuous education and promotion targeting transportation companies."
