Yeongam County in South Jeolla Province has achieved success in expanding international exchange and cooperation in Vietnam and broadening export channels for local agricultural products.
The county announced that from December 9 to 12, it visited Vietnam to hold a "Yeongam County-Da Nang City Practical Consultation for Strengthening Friendly Exchange and Cooperation" with the Hai Van District People's Committee of Da Nang City, and signed a "Business Agreement for Cooperation in Agricultural and Food Processing and Distribution" with THD (Tham Huu Dung Co., Ltd.), a distribution company based in Hanoi.
The delegation, including Woosunghee, County Governor of Yeongam, organized this visit to move the relationship between the two cities, which has been built through invitations to the Korea-Vietnam Festival in August and the invitation of Da Nang’s cultural and arts troupe to the Mahan Festival in September, into a stage of practical cooperation.
Earlier, in April this year, Bui Thu Thuy, CEO of THD, visited Yeongam County Office and expressed her intention to process and sell Yeongam’s agricultural products such as pears, Daebong persimmons, and rice in Vietnam.
On December 9, the Yeongam County delegation visited Da Nang City Hall to pay a courtesy call on Ho Quang Vu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee, and signed a business agreement for cooperation in agricultural and food processing and distribution with THD. On December 10, the delegation visited the Hai Van District People's Committee under Da Nang’s jurisdiction, where they held a working-level consultation with Nguyen Thuc Trung, Chairman of the People's Committee, discussing the dispatch of seasonal agricultural workers, an invitation to the 2026 Wangin Scholar Festival, and ways to expand cultural and human exchanges.
In addition, the delegation explored possibilities for exchange in culture, crafts, arts, and tourism by visiting the Co Tu community in Tarang-Zanbi Village, the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Cham Sculpture Museum.
On December 11, after moving to Hanoi, the delegation visited THD’s local factory to tour the production facilities and specified implementation plans for the business agreement, including: ▲ linking distribution channels for processed products between the two countries ▲ launching a joint brand for Yeongam agricultural raw materials ▲ joint development of prototypes and new products ▲ joint participation and marketing at trade fairs in both countries ▲ regular working-level consultations.
Based on this practical consultation, the county plans to sign a friendly city exchange agreement with Da Nang City during the Wangin Cultural Festival in March next year, and will immediately begin practical consultations with THD for processing and sales, starting with the region’s specialty pears.
Woosunghee, County Governor of Yeongam, stated, "Through this visit to Vietnam, we have established a future-oriented foundation for cooperation in agriculture, culture, and tourism encompassing both Da Nang City and THD. We will continue to expand overseas markets for Yeongam’s special agricultural products and create a model of international exchange based on mutual coexistence and prosperity."
Meanwhile, as of December 2025, the county has signed international agreements with five cities, including those in China, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Taiwan, and is actively engaging in exchange activities.
