Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority completed a solar power plant at the Gyeonggi Maritime Safety Experience Center on the 16th.
The authority announced that it had installed a solar power facility with a total capacity of 95kW on unused public land within the experience center and held a completion ceremony on the same day.
Previously, Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority was selected last year for the "6th Public Land Utilization Solar Power Plant Expansion Support Project." Through this initiative, local residents can directly participate in the power generation business in the form of a cooperative, and share the profits from renewable energy with the community, creating a virtuous cycle energy model with resident participation.
This solar power plant is operated under a mutually beneficial structure, where the public institution utilizes idle land without additional budget, and residents receive dividend income while also contributing to climate crisis response.

Kim Geumgyu, Acting President of Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority, stated, "The completion of this solar power plant is a practical example of achieving carbon neutrality by utilizing idle public land, and marks a meaningful first step in sharing benefits with the local community. Moving forward, we will continue to serve as a hub for the expansion of renewable energy in line with Gyeonggi Province's RE100 policy, and faithfully fulfill our responsibilities as a public institution that grows together with the region."
Taking this project as an opportunity, Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority plans to continuously discover and expand renewable energy models utilizing public land, leading the transition to eco-friendly energy and regional coexistence as a port and logistics hub public enterprise.
