High Marks for Practical Training and Inter-Agency Collaboration in Government-Wide Evaluation

The Disaster Response Safe Korea Training is a government-wide drill involving 336 institutions nationwide. The evaluation is conducted based on 17 assessment indicators, covering all stages from planning and design to implementation and feedback. Excellent institutions are selected through pre-drill, on-site, and post-drill evaluations, focusing on the adequacy of training planning and design, the foundation for discussion and execution, and the overall appropriateness of the training.
On October 24, Guri City conducted a drill at the Guri Art Hall, simulating a complex disaster scenario under the theme of 'performance venue accidents and crowd congestion.' The drill was carried out using an integrated and connected approach, simultaneously operating a discussion-based drill in the disaster situation room and an on-site drill at the Guri Art Hall.
In particular, the discussion-based drill was led by Mayor Baek Kyunghyun and focused on situation assessment and countermeasure meetings, while the on-site drill was overseen by Vice Mayor Eom Jinseop, who directed the establishment and operation of the integrated support headquarters as well as on-site response and recovery activities. The real-time connection between the situation room and the field was highly regarded for enhancing the effectiveness and completeness of the training.
Additionally, to minimize the spread of damage in the early stages of a disaster, Guri City reviewed a collaborative response system involving 16 related agencies and organizations centered around the city. Approximately 200 people, including citizens, participated in the drill, with an emphasis on strengthening initial response capabilities for complex disaster situations.
Through this evaluation, Guri City achieved the distinction of being selected as an excellent institution in the Disaster Response Safe Korea Training for the third consecutive year, demonstrating its ongoing disaster response capabilities. The city explained that it is establishing itself as a model city for disaster management administration that prioritizes the safety of its citizens above all else.
Mayor Baek Kyunghyun stated, "Since disasters can occur anytime and anywhere, we will continue to strengthen our response system," adding, "We will do our utmost to protect the lives and safety of Guri citizens and create a city where safety can be truly felt by everyone."
