This national metropolitan railroad project will connect a total of 12 stations along a roughly 20-kilometer route from Daejang District in Bucheon to Hongdae Entrance Station, with the goal of opening in 2031. The total project cost is 2.1287 trillion won. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is leading the project, while Seobu Metropolitan Metro Co., Ltd. is in charge of implementation.

The city expects that, once the project is completed, travel time from Daejang in Bucheon to Hongdae Entrance Station will be reduced from the current 50 minutes to 27 minutes. In addition, four new stations-Daejang, Ojeong, Wonjong, and Gogang-will be established in the Bucheon section, bringing key residential and commercial areas closer and greatly improving convenience for citizens commuting to work and for daily travel.
The city also anticipates that the opening of the railroad will enhance access to educational, commercial, and public facilities, and accelerate the development of the Daejang New Town.
An official from Bucheon City stated, "The Daejang-Hongdae Line is an important project that will play a substantial role in improving transportation in Bucheon and the western region, as well as revitalizing the local economy. We will prioritize citizen convenience and safety and ensure the project proceeds without delay."
