Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) will become the first in the world to introduce the "Super AI Station" equipped with NVIDIA's latest GB300 artificial intelligence (AI) accelerator.
Korail announced on December 16 that it had signed a business agreement at its Seoul headquarters with Supermicro Computer and Aquatron to develop AI technology specialized for railroads and establish an innovative ecosystem.

Supermicro is a U.S.-based company specializing in high-performance server and storage hardware, leading global technologies related to high-efficiency servers. Aquatron provides eco-friendly AI data centers and high-density infrastructure solutions.
Under the agreement, Korail will be responsible for building, verifying, and evaluating a testbed for developing railroad-specialized AI technology and establishing an innovative ecosystem. Supermicro will donate the Super AI Station and provide consulting on AI infrastructure solutions, while Aquatron will handle system installation and technology development. Each party will collaborate according to these roles.
The Super AI Station from Supermicro, which Korail will deploy in railroad sites, will support the training of AI models and complex inference, enabling the development, simulation, and on-site optimization of AI models tailored for the field.
In particular, it will serve as a core infrastructure to overcome the limitations of centralized AI and accelerate the transition to "Edge AI." This allows for the rapid validation of AI models without large-scale investment, reducing implementation costs and speeding up project timelines.
The GB300 installed in this equipment is NVIDIA's latest AI acceleration platform, combining the newest Grace CPU and B300 GPU to deliver top-tier computational performance and energy efficiency for large-scale generative AI and real-time inference.
With this, Edge AI can be implemented to perform AI computations near the data source rather than in a central data center, which is expected to significantly improve AI processing speeds.
Korail plans to utilize the Super AI Station to carry out AI demonstration projects aimed at enhancing railroad safety and public services. The company intends to move beyond the central server-based AI framework and pursue unit demonstrations and applications that reflect the specific characteristics of railroad sites.
Jung Jungrae, Acting President of Korail, stated, "This agreement will be a turning point for advancing the AI competitiveness of Korea's railroad industry," adding, "We will actively introduce and utilize advanced overseas AI technology to improve railroad safety and the quality of public services."
