Physical AI Roundtable Held by Jeonbuk and KOSPO at COMEUP 2025
Collaboration with PersonaAI, Rebellions, and Megazone Alliance
Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, which is promoting Physical AI, held a roundtable discussion with the Korea Startup Forum (KOSPO) at the 'COMEUP 2025' event at COEX in Seoul on December 12. The roundtable was attended by Governor Kim Kwan-young, as well as representatives from domestic AI deep tech companies such as Megazone Cloud, PersonaAI, and Rebellions.
The participants agreed that the importance of Physical AI, which applies artificial intelligence to real-world industries, is growing. They also concurred that Jeonbuk's industrial base in sectors such as agri-bio and mobility is well-suited for technology demonstration and commercialization.
The roundtable continued with a discussion on strategies for the success of the Jeonbuk Physical AI Demonstration Complex. Governor Kim Kwan-young stated, "From 2026, we will invest about 1 trillion won over five years to develop core technologies, build high-performance computing infrastructure, establish demonstration testbeds, and create research clusters. We will also promote field-oriented AI demonstration hubs in areas such as manufacturing, logistics, and smart cities. Through these efforts, we aim to establish Jeonbuk as a hub for the next-generation AI industry in Korea."
Joo-wan Lee, Chairman of Megazone Cloud, emphasized, "It is necessary to build an open data cloud infrastructure, simplify procedures, accelerate test approvals and imports through regulatory sandboxes, and facilitate participation by various companies through diverse matchings with large corporate clients."
Yoo Seungjae, CEO of PersonaAI, demonstrated the company's AI engine, which won the 2025 CES Innovation Award and an award at the Beijing International Competition. The demonstration showcased image generation and language model operations on an old mobile phone without internet connectivity.
He stated, "Edge AI engines and large language models must evolve in a complementary way for the expansion of services through Physical AI and to realize AI for all citizens. We will grow as a leading Edge AI company with global competitiveness."
Shin Sungkyu, Vice President of Rebellions, remarked, "Continuous investment in NPUs and talent development are important, and it would be beneficial if Jeonbuk could provide a demonstration complex where products can be thoroughly tested."
Meanwhile, COMEUP is a global startup event organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and this year, about 60,000 people from 46 countries participated. During the event, Jeonbuk operated a joint pavilion to promote the technologies of 34 local startups and support their investment attraction activities.
Governor Kim Kwan-young said, "It is meaningful to discuss Jeonbuk's future strategy together with the Korea Startup Forum, which represents Korean startups. We will continuously advance the local startup ecosystem so that Jeonbuk can become a 'land of opportunity' where global startups challenge themselves and grow, not just in Korea but worldwide."
